HWC 2023 Preparation and voting!

Also who gets to qualify? Last year I decided to leave cause i was having trouble setting up a play date with my korean opponent and I also didn’t feel like it was worth my time by that point as they were only 1600 or 1900 I believe. Perhaps have a minimum rating? Put players together based on their time zone?- Of course when there are less and less people some adjustments might have to be made but I think it would be more efficient this way.
i prefer 2+2. It is the traditional HWC format, but add other HWC time controls for other players as well. We had in past 1+0 and 0.5s tournaments as well.
(assuming its better to have black) i am not understanding why a draw is a slight advantage to the person who starts with black in the match because if u are ahead by 1 pt then u r not ahead by 2 pts so if you have 1.5-0.5 then its only being ahead by 1 pt.

i guess its only an advantage if we are talking a best of 3 tiebreaker for example?

i guess "ignore draws rule" is possible but on the other hand maybe slightly unfair to the white player somehow
nevermind, i understand now ravif's point!

so if we have 1.5-0.5 it is not like having 1-0 because the colors switched...so if player a starts white and player b starts black,

b wins first, they draw second, then b will have black again,

so draws switch the color hmm good point indeed

one workaround is maybe force same color after a draw game but it seems impractical and unrealistic to expect people to remember they have to do that and send a new challenge and rated challenge require random color

another workaround could be change the rule so that u need two wins in a row and thus a draw resets your streak, but it seems really bad, u could just alternate between winning and drawing games like 6 games in a row and still not win the match

perhaps the best workaround i can think of is well dont worry for the preliminary match because its just a best of 10 environment it should not discriminate color even with draws in the picture i think, and then for tiebreaker just use armageddon . or is this wrong?
You can count me in.

2+2 or 3+1 best of 10 armageddon tiebreak
I would also like to participate and I vote for 2+2, I don ́t remember though when your account has to have been created (e.g. before August/ before July) and I can ́t seem to find the google docs document anymore
Good morning!

I would prefer 3+ 2 time control for few reasons. First it is common in big hordes tournament like in the shield. The name of this tournament sounds big just like the shield haha Second it gives a higher quality of the game on both players due to sufficient time to think through the positions tactics opportunities critically and little to no chance of flagging. I agree with othesr for the best of 10 tiebreakers. It's a awesome idea. :)
